A mayor’s residence in Paris was invaded by a car and set on fire on Sunday, while his wife and children were inside during the ongoing disturbances that have gripped the country since the police killing of a young man on Tuesday.

Vincent Jeanbrun, the mayor of La Lye-Rose in southern Paris, stated that his wife and their two children, aged 5 and 7, were injured while escaping from the building in the early hours of the morning.

Jeanbrun, a member of the conservative Republicans party, was not at home during the incident, but he had been in the municipal building, which had been targeted in several attacks over the past few nights since the young man’s death. The building was protected with barbed wire and barriers.

According to the local prosecutor, an investigation has been launched into the charge of attempted murder, as the mayor’s wife was injured while fleeing through the backyard of the house. No suspects have been apprehended.

Jeanbrun took to Twitter and wrote, “At 1:30 am, while I was in the municipal building just like the previous two nights, individuals invaded my house with a car before setting it on fire, and my wife and two young children were inside sleeping.”

The incident has sparked a wave of protests throughout France and raised concerns about the ongoing unrest and violence in the country.
