Amidst conflicting reports, AmaZulu King Misizulu KaZwelethini has moved swiftly to address claims of being hospitalized following a suspected poisoning. The initial statement came from Mangosuthu Buthelezi, acting as the amaZulu Prime Minister, who stated that the king was receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Eswatini.
Buthelezi further explained that the king was reluctant to seek medical attention in South Africa due to past unfortunate incidents involving healthcare treatment resulting in the deaths of other family members.
However, Prince Africa Zulu, the spokesperson for the king, swiftly contradicted these claims, emphasizing that His Majesty remains in perfect health. Prince Zulu highlighted that certain actors are spreading deliberate misinformation, suggesting the presence of an orchestrated agenda to defame and propagate baseless claims about the king’s well-being.
In response to the situation, Prince Zulu revealed that the king had recently expressed his condolences for the passing of his senior Induna (traditional advisor). However, while Buthelezi alleged that the Induna had been poisoned and that the king also suspected foul play, Prince Zulu clarified that the king had traveled to eSwatini to visit his uncle and had undergone routine testing at a hospital there.
