The Akwa Ibom State Police Command made a shocking revelation on Friday as they paraded Aniekan James, a resident of Ikot Ndot village in Ukanafun Local Government, who is accused of murdering his 35-year-old son, Odudu Aniekan James.

According to Commissioner of Police Olatoye Durusinmi, the suspect, Aniekan James, has a history of being a habitual murderer and has committed similar crimes in Lagos and Abia States. The arrest of the suspect took place on June 16, 2023, by the Ukanafun Police Division following an altercation between the father and son.

During the press conference, the police commissioner also disclosed the successful rescue of a kidnapped Vice Chancellor of a private university. The abduction was orchestrated by the victim’s former domestic staff, Prince Thursday Okon, who had been dismissed for criminal activities.

Okon, along with his accomplices Saviour Sunday Luke and Richard Friday, were apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad. The remaining ransom money and the Toyota Corolla used in the operation were recovered, and the Vice Chancellor has been reunited with his family.

Additionally, the police paraded Edu Udeme Ime, a suspected ritualist, who was apprehended by the Quick Response Squad. Ime was found in possession of a human skull, and he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his possession of it, only naming the ring leader who is believed to be a ritualist.
