Renowned scholar Professor Emmanuel Iga, known for his expertise in geopolitics and international business, has praised Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his victory in the presidential election, achieved without the backing of a political godfather. This commendation came during an interactive session between President Tinubu and Nigerians in Paris, France.

Recalling that Tinubu emerged as the 16th President of Nigeria after defeating formidable opponents such as Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Professor Iga expressed admiration for his leadership. He lauded Tinubu as the first Nigerian President to break free from the influence of a godfather, emphasizing that Tinubu himself is the driving force behind his success.

Additionally, Professor Iga praised Tinubu’s administration for its removal of subsidies and efforts to streamline foreign exchange processes. He expressed anticipation for the implementation of palliative measures to support the Nigerian populace.

In response, President Tinubu acknowledged the fraudulent nature of fuel subsidies, considering them detrimental to economic growth. He denounced the system for rewarding smugglers and burdening the nation with the cost of the commodity. His administration’s decision to address this issue demonstrates a commitment to rectifying such distortions in the economy.
