Researchers at the University Hospital in Ghent, Belgium, have developed a test that helps in the efficacy and effectiveness of treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, which is very common among minor children.

According to a report by the Foundation, thanks to the development of this test, doctors will be able to accurately and quickly know the effectiveness of cancer treatment.

According to University Professor Tim Lamin, the test helps to accurately determine the effectiveness of the drugs given to the infected, as it is currently being applied to all infected children in Belgium.

It is worth noting that Belgium annually witnesses more than 70 cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, which depends on the enzyme asparaginase as a treatment for the disease.

The asparaginase enzyme works to dismantle the primary cells of leukemia, which leads to the death of cancer cells and their final disappearance.

Since last January, after the effectiveness of the test was proven, the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance in Belgium officially adopted it in all treatment centers.
