The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), a major festival dedicated to Nigerian cinema, took place on May 20th, 2023 in Lagos. This edition was particularly marked by the glamor of its actors.

While the eyes of the whole world are riveted on the Cannes Film Festival, Nigerians mainly talk about the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), the Nollywood festival, and the local film industry. The event is organized by DSTv, the South African satellite package, which broadcasts it. Beyond the rewards, it is above all an opportunity to admire the outfits of the actresses and to fantasize about their price.

The ninth edition of this ceremony rewarding Nigerian cinema was co-presented by South African Zozi Tunzi, who won the Miss Universe competition in 2019.

It is Kunle Afolayan’s film Anikulapo, broadcast on Netflix, which has won the greatest number of awards, in particular, that of “Best Film”.

Osas Ighodaro won best actress in a drama, and Tobi Bakare was best actor, for his role in the movie Brotherhood.
