The general delegate of FESPACO Moussa Alex Sawadogo expressed himself in an interview published last Friday in the public daily Sidwaya, in which he noted the place occupied by Burkinabe cinema at the international level.

He said that the Burkinabe cinema is present in almost all significant festivals of category A.

He gave the example of the Rotterdam festival that Burkina Faso won with the film by Salam Zampaligré: The Taxi, the Cinema and Me, pointing out that the same film won the prize for best documentary film at the Luxor festival in Egypt.

The film by Apolline Traoré, Sira also won the audience award at the Berlinale in Germany, one of the biggest festivals in the world, making known that it is the first African film to have won this award, added Moussa Alex Sawadogo.

For him, African cinema must impose itself internationally as Burkina has honored Africa at major events.

Moreover, he said that we judge the Burkinabe cinema only through the FESPACO. At the same time, it is necessary to try to go beyond to be able to assess the presence, dynamics, and strength of creativity of Burkinabe.
