The African Judicial Education Network on Environmental Law (AJENEL) has announced that the 4th Regional Symposium on Greening Africa’s Judicial Systems will be held in Morocco in 2025.

It is at the closing of the 3rd Symposium which was held in Nairobi, from 03 to 05 April, that the Kingdom of Morocco was unanimously chosen by the Council of AJENEL for the organization of this biannual event.

Morocco was elected because of its leadership at the continental level in judicial training and in the independence of the judiciary and the protection of human rights.

The Counsellor at the Court of Cassation and head of division at the Supreme Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) had highlighted the Kingdom’s qualities in the field of event organization and its expertise in judicial training before a jury from 11 African countries.

The 3rd Symposium, which was held under the theme: “Strengthening the role of the judiciary in the fight against climate change in Africa”, has witnessed the active participation of the Moroccan delegation which also includes the Councillor of the Court of Cassation, Ahmed Dahman, taking part in several panels and debates.

The members of the Moroccan delegation had pleaded for a common African legal space to meet the challenges related to climate change, stressing the need to achieve a balance between the needs of sustainable development and environmental protection.
