The first edition of the Pan-African Film Days, ROOTS Rabat, was inaugurated on Sunday evening in Rabat. The event was attended by the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, as well as prominent figures from the art and cinema worlds of Morocco and Africa.

This edition is organized on the initiative of the Hiba Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, as part of the celebration of Rabat as the African Capital of Culture in 2022.

This event aims to promote the continent’s know-how to foster the creation of synergies and South-South cooperation that contribute to the sustainability of the film industry at the continental level.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, Bensaid said that this African film event is an opportunity to learn about African cinema and culture, and to exchange views, experiences, and ideas between filmmakers and professionals from Morocco and other African countries.

Bensaid said ROOTS Rabat is also an opportunity for students and film enthusiasts to benefit from training in the film industry, through a series of training workshops in the 7th art and photography professions.
