A human Rights Report Reveals Algeria’s Detention of Moroccans and their Deportation Across the Borders of the two Countries

The Moroccan Association for Human Rights in Oujda announced that it had followed up on the entry of Moroccans from Algeria into Morocco through the borders of the two countries, which was exceptionally open for several Moroccans who were detained in Algeria.

The human rights association said, in its annual report of 2022, that it recorded the intervention of Moroccan diplomacy to deport Moroccans who wish to do so, but its effectiveness in accelerating this remains “without the expectations of the families of detainees and detainees.”

The association reported that on March 16th, 2022, the Algerian authorities handed over to the Moroccan authorities about forty irregular Moroccan immigrants, while they also handed over 34 Moroccan immigrants, including a woman, two children, and an unaccompanied minor.

Those people were arrested or detained in Algerian prisons, or detention centers, according to the testimonies the association received, announcing that it had monitored one of the testimonies of a young Moroccan who entered Algeria for work in 2015, and at that time he was a minor.

The authority added that the concerned person was arrested by the Algerian authorities in September 2021, and he was tried for six months suspended, and a fine of about 30,000 dirhams, and that he remained in detention until he was deported in October 2022, from Algeria to Morocco via Tunisia, after That his poor family booked the travel ticket, after the intervention of the Moroccan diplomacy, and proof of his identity.

The Moroccan Association for Human Rights confirmed that the person who was detained was subjected to psychological and physical torture by the Algerian authorities, with his registration of good treatment with him, and he was also sympathized by some of those assigned to guard him in Algeria.
