Arsenio Mucavele, Africa’s Country Director for Mozambique, revealed in a statement today that the heavy rains and flooding caused by Cyclone Freddy have affected more than 163,300 people.

Arsenio Mucavele explained that the heavy rains that the country experienced last week could generate several problems related to the cholera epidemic, loss of income, and food shortages.

In this context, the official indicated that the NGO is ready to provide humanitarian aid to the population, such as food assistance, blankets, and water purification material to poor communities.

The official recalled that the cyclones caused enormous damage, with houses destroyed or flooded, public infrastructure damaged, roads destroyed and classrooms destroyed, in addition to the people displaced due to the floods.

It is in this context that the African NGO is offering food, shelter, and water purification equipment to help the affected people overcome the situation.
