A statement from the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said that a US raid killed 7 fighters of the Al-Shabbab terrorist group in Somalia about 515 km northeast of Mogadishu, at the request of the Somali government.

This operation is not the first of its kind. Indeed, two other strikes have been carried out by the United States against this terrorist group, killing 17 fighters.

In total, US forces have conducted 6 counter-terrorism strikes against Al-Shabaab in coordination with the Somali government.

In addition, Bilal al-Sudani, a leader of Daech and responsible for spreading the terrorist group’s ideology in Africa, was killed in a US counter-terrorism strike last January.

These US operations in Somalia are part of the support provided by the United States since Biden approved a request related to the redeployment of US troops in Somalia to fight against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
