The Russian Institute of Applied Mathematics Keldysh, part of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has announced that five Russian telescopes will be deployed in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to observe space debris.

This operation is part of the second stage of the UN competition scheduled for 2024, the institute said on its Telegram channel.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the 60th session of the Technical and Scientific Subcommittee of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (CUPEEA).

At the meeting, the institute presented the status and prospects of its program with the UN, called ISONscope, to provide small telescopes to universities and research centers in developing countries.
