The President of Senegal and current Chairperson of the African Union gave a speech on Tuesday in Dubai at the World Government Summit, held under the theme of the summit: ”Shaping the governments of tomorrow”.

On this occasion, Macky Sall stressed that Africa does not present more risks than other parts of the world in terms of investments, adding that what must change is rather the perception.

The Senegalese president argued that Africa should be rated on what it does, not on what they think it does, especially since it pays its debts and meets its commitments.

This perception blocks efforts by African countries to move forward.

Similarly, Macky Sall pointed to Africa’s potential, given that it has ‘65% of the world’s arable land’, large waterways, and a large workforce. These factors are essential for investors to succeed on the continent.

The President of Senegal and current Chairperson of the African Union, is attending the summit at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyane, president of the United Arab Emirates.
