The US Embassy in Monrovia confirmed its awareness of several recent audits at Roberts International Airport (RIA), which revealed significant deficiencies in airport safety, security and operation standards.
A security alert issued by the U.S. Embassy revealed that, in recent months, residents of the Americas are aware that RIA, the Liberia Airport Authority, and the Liberian Civil Aviation Authority have begun to address these shortcomings.
The United States told its state citizens considering flying into or out of Ria International Airport that few of these shortcomings had been resolved, and many airport safety, security, and emergency response capabilities still fell short of international standards.
