The African continent will now be able to ship goods from its east to more than half a billion consumers on Alibaba across the continent, after the Rwandan government and the Chinese company signed an agreement to establish the first center for the electronic global trade platform (eWTP) in Africa.

Small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to benefit from trade logistics, cloud computing, mobile payments and skills training, from eWTP.

The deal also guarantees trade in Rwandan products, facilitating tourism in the country, as well as promoting economic development and a digital economy.

About 50 university lecturers from all over Rwanda have joined the Global E-commerce Talent Program (GET) organized by Alibaba In a five-day training course, in order to deepen their knowledge of e-commerce.
