The Cameroonian presidency announced today the arrest of several people suspected of being involved in the murder of journalist Martinez Zogo, who was the director general of the privately-owned radio station Amplitude FM and at the same time host of the daily program, Embouteillage.

During his show, he was known for denouncing corruption and business in this African country, ruled for more than 40 years by President Paul Biya.

The Cameroonian journalist was abducted in Yaoundé in front of a gendarmerie post and was found dead five days later. The government announced that his body had been abused.

President Biya ordered an investigation by the police and the gendarmerie, which led to the arrest of several people strongly implicated in the assassination.

Similarly, a statement by the Minister of State and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, indicated that the investigation is still on-going and other persons are being sought, adding that the hearings and the ongoing judicial process will identify the persons involved.
