A number of memoranda of understanding were signed between the two countries at the end of the state visit to Zimbabwe by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Lukashenko, who is on his first visit to sub-Saharan Africa, visited Zimbabwe on Monday at the invitation of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The two leaders presided on Tuesday over the signing of eight memoranda of understanding on cooperation in the supply of agricultural machinery, to enable Zimbabwe to benefit from the agricultural and manufacturing expertise of Belarus.

Through these agreements, Zimbabwe will receive more agricultural machinery from Belarus, including tractors and combines, given that Belarus had already provided Zimbabwe with agricultural equipment in 2019, during the visit of Mr. Mnangagwa.

Apart from agriculture, Zimbabwe is keen to deepen cooperation with Belarus and extend it to other areas such as tourism and the mining sector.
