The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced in a press statement today, Sunday, that the new deadline for the swap of old naira notes at commercial banks February 10, 2023.
The Central Bank of Nigeria will allow Nigerians to directly deposit their old currencies until February 17, 2023 which is described as a “grace period”.
This latest extension came after Nigerians complained of not being able to exchange their old banknotes before the January 31 deadline.
The bank also received complaints about the scarcity of securities, especially for the rural population.
