Angolan president João Lourenço announced today at a panel on clean energy in Africa, held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, that his government is committed to using more than 80% clean energy by 2025 in order to strengthen its climate action.

João Lourenço reviewed a series of concrete actions implemented by Angola in terms of sustainable development, environment and energy transition.

In this context, he referred to the large hydroelectric dam being built on the Kwanza River, which will produce clean energy at national level. He also referred to solar and wind energy as a means of diversifying the country’s energy sources.

He added that Angola is in the preparatory phase for the production of green hydrogen.
