After a series of corruption scandals impacting the ruling party’s image, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke yesterday at the 111th-anniversary celebrations of the African National Congress (ANC), dedicated to presenting the ANC party’s programme of action and its future prospects.

On this occasion, Mr Ramaphosa assured that the ANC would undertake the necessary means to fight crime and corruption.

The statement was made in front of hundreds of his followers and aims to restore confidence in the party.

Ramaphosa was re-elected in December as ANC leader and has promised to resolve the energy and power crisis that is holding back economic growth.
