The Chadian government stated yesterday that it had thwarted an “attempt to destabilize” sought at damaging the “constitutional mandate and the organisations of the Republic”.

“This program was drawn up by a little group of traitors made up of eleven military administrators led by the named Baradine Berdei Targuio, president of the Chadian Organisation for human rights (OTDH)”, resumes the press release, specifying that the security services carried out their “arrest from December 8, 2022”.

According to Aziz Mahamat Saleh, Minister of Communication and government spokesman, “a judicial examination has been extended against these people for damaging the constitutional mandate, illegal association, unlawful possession of firearms and complicity”.

“The lawful method is pursuing its course and the government plans to clear full light on this matter and find the responsibilities”, concludes the minister.

In February 2021, Baradine Berdei Targuio was condemned to 3 years in jail for damaging the constitutional mandate for having noted that the late President Idriss Déby Itno, who passed away in April 2021 and father of the present President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, was “seriously ill” and “hospitalized”.
