The European Union has accused rwanda of backing the March 23 (M23) rebel group, and urging it to stop this support.

The M23 take over large areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in North Kivu province.

Rwanda has consistently denied the accusations leveled against it by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, United States and many European and African countries about its support for the M23.

The European bloc called Rwanda to use all means to pressure the M23 into comply with the decisions taken  at a November summit in Angola, and by the East African Community, and to stop supporting it.

Reports of United Nations experts stated earlier that they had collected evidence of “direct intervention” of the Rwandan Defense Forces inside the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo between at least November 2021 and last October.
