Following last week’s foiled coup attempt in The Gambia, Gambian government spokesperson Ebrima G. Sankareh said an 11-person commission of enquiry was set up on Tuesday. The commission has 30 days to submit its report.

The commission is composed of members of the police, the army, the Ministry of Justice and the intelligence services.
The Gambian presidency earlier announced the arrest of two soldiers suspected of being involved in the coup attempt, in addition to five soldiers detained in connection with the case and others, who are being tracked down.

In addition, the former Minister of Presidential Affairs and member of the main opposition party is also being held after appearing in a video suggesting the overthrow of the president before the upcoming local elections.
