Montpellier prosecutor Fabrice Bélargent told the French news agency that the man suspected of fatally colliding with Moroccan teenager Aymen in Montpellier, on the night of 15 December, during the celebrations for France’s qualification for the World Cup final, was arrested this morning near Perpignan by the Montpellier judicial police.

The accused was arrested in execution of an arrest warrant in the context of an investigation opened for “aggravated fatal blows in this case with a weapon”, and will be presented today to the investigating magistrate.

Aymen’s family lawyer told the press that this news is a relief for the family of the deceased who wants justice to be done.

Many people were in solidarity with the family of the deceased. In fact, last week, a thousand people marched in Montpellier to pay their last respects to the teenager.
