While the Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, praised the successful military operations against Al-Shabaab, the Somali army forces arrested some local sheikhs, on charges of collaborating with them.

“The sheikhs, who were arrested by the army forces, violated the directives of the federal government regarding terrorism, and they will be brought before justice according to the laws drawn up for the state,” said Farah Warsmi, the governor of the city of Adado of Galgudud district in Galmudug regional state.

The Somali government began sending delegations to the areas liberated from the grip of “al-Shabaab”, where the Minister of State in the Ministry of Defense, Abdelnour Tahir, headed a delegation to the liberated areas in the central Shabelle governorates of the Hirshabelle regional state.

Members of the Al-Shabaab movement, during their presence in the area, prevented studies and health services and expelled Quranic seminar teachers, religious scholars, and businessmen.
