French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, reported in a report posted on Twitter, during his visit to Algiers, that there is a repair of the consular relationship between France and Morocco.

This statement was made after the announcement made by Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna regarding the resumption of full consular cooperation with Morocco.

The same statement added that consular links with Algeria and Morocco had been effective since 12 December, Paris said.

This crisis dates back to September 2021, when Paris decided to reduce visa quotas to 50% for Algeria and Morocco and 30% for Tunisia, in order to encourage the countries to repatriate their citizens living in France as irregular migrants.
