The United Nations reports: floods kill at least 169 in Kinashasa

The government has not officially announced the change in the weather record of December 13, which the Prime Minister’s services had established on Tuesday evening at least 120 deaths.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo said Friday night that “at least 169 people” had died in Tuesday’s floods in Kinshasa, citing officials.

“As of December 16, Congolese authorities reported that at least 169 people were killed, about 30 injured (…) and at least 280 houses destroyed,” OCHA posted on Twitter.
