The Sudanese Doctors Committee announced the death of a protester who died of his injuries in the popular demonstrations in the eastern city of Port Sudan.

The non-governmental committee said in a statement that a 17-year-old doctor died as a result of his injuries during the demonstrations in Port Sudan after he was hit by a tear gas canister in the neck, which led to a fracture of the second cervical vertebra. He stayed in intensive care from October 25 until he died today, Saturday.

The statement added that with the death of this demonstrating doctor, the total number of dead after October 25 reached 122, and the Sudanese authorities did not issue a comment on the committee’s statement.

The demonstrators are protesting in the city of Port Sudan, on the Red Sea coast, against their lack of participation in the ongoing political settlement between the military and civilians.
