The GCC commends the Security Council resolution on the Moroccan Sahara

The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) affirmed today, Friday, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, its firm position on the national issue of Morocco, its support for the Moroccanization of the Sahara, and its emphasis on preserving the security and stability of Morocco and its territorial integrity.

The closing statement of the Council’s 43rd session stated the importance of the special strategic partnership between the GCC and the Kingdom of Morocco, the implementation of the joint action plan, also its firm positions and decisions in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara.

The GCC Council commended the Security Council resolution issued last October on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

Furthermore, the UN Security Council adopted earlier resolution No. 2654 on the Sahara, with 13 affirmative votes, and two abstentions, namely Russia and Kenya, which stipulates 17 recommendations.
