Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong, Minister of Health and Welfare, has launched a nationwide intestinal worm and schistosomiasis free-release campaign that will be implemented in all nine provinces of the country from 7 to 10 December 2022.

The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Health through the Parasitic Disease Control Program in collaboration with WHO and the Central African Coordinating Organization for Endemic Diseases (OCEAC). It is intended to eliminate ringworm and schistosomiasis in children aged 5 to 14 years by oral administration of albendazole and praziquantel tablets.

For Dr Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong “This campaign is in line with the health policy guidelines of the President of the Republic, which has directed the government to do everything possible to improve the health of children”.

Against this background, government councillors urge parents to take steps to effectively combat these “scourges of intestinal parasites and schistosomiasis, which often severely impair children’s school performance.
