The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Burkina organized on Wednesday in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, a sub-regional seminar under the theme “electoral processes and security crisis in sub-Saharan Africa: resilience of election management bodies”, with the participation of approximately 150 experts from eleven African countries.

Participants in this seminar, which continues until December 9, are from election bodies in Benin, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Togo.

In his opening speech, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of Burkina Faso, Elysé Ouédraogo, said that the main objective of this seminar is to provide a framework for exchanges between the election management bodies of West and Central Africa to enable them to find levers of the resilience of the electoral processes they conduct in a context of security challenges in order to contribute to democratic consolidation.
