The Moroccan national team qualified for the quarter-finals of the Qatar World Cup 2022, after crushing the Spanish national team on penalties, following the end of the original and extra time with a goalless draw.

The Spanish team dominated most of the course of the match, as it managed to close the spaces and put high pressure on the ball carrier, and made the Atlas Lions lean back, and the Moroccan team created some dangerous opportunities to score, most notably Nayef Akrad’s header during the first half.

In the second half, the Spaniards continued to pressure the lions’ defences, through dangerous opportunities that Yassin Bono managed to tackle, amid few attempts by the national elite, so the match ended in its original time with a negative result, so the two teams decided to go to the extra innings.

In the extra innings, the Moroccan national team continued to search for the record through quick and lightning attempts, through Walid Chedira, who was alone in one of the balls with the Spanish goalkeeper twice without investing it well.

The two teams will decide on the penalty shootout, which went to the Moroccan team with a score of three goals without a response, thus reserving the qualifying card for the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, and the “Lions” will wait for the winner of the Portugal-Switzerland match.
