Injuries and violence claim the lives of about 12,000 people around the world, According to a new UN world health organization report.

The WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus revealed that people who live in poverty are more likely to be infected than the rich.

He added that the health sector plays a key role in addressing these health inequalities and in preventing injuries and violence, through data collection, policy development, service delivery and advocacy for greater attention to underserved communities, programming for prevention and care and capacity building.

Among the top five causes of death among people between the ages of 5 and 29, according to the World Health Organization, are road traffic injuries, homicides and suicides.

The UN Report ‘’Injury and violence prevention: an overview’’, showed that the other causes of injury-related deaths include drowning, falls, burns and poisoning.
