The number of Israeli tourists has increased greatly in Morocco, after the direct flights between the two countries, and applying the electronic visas. And by 2027, it is expected that one million Israeli tourists will visit Morocco annually.

More than 60 percent of visa applications have come from Israel, since the expanding bilateral relationship between Morocco and Israel, according to reports.

‘’Marrakesh is the main destination for the Israelis, many tourists from Israel travel to the red city,” said Abdellatif Abouricha, communications officer for the Marrakech-Safi Regional Tourism Council. He notes that this class differs greatly from other traditional (European) countries of origin, as it uses all hotel categories (luxury, mid-range, and camping).

Albouricha added that there is a special relationship between Morocco and the Hebrew world, and the four weekly flights from Israel to Marrakech are almost fully booked, and this is also reflected in the number of restaurants and hotels whose operations benefit from Israeli customers across the region.

He also stressed, “This new market offers extraordinary potential, with a growing number of travellers from all over the world, They don’t just come from Israel, and they don’t come for family reasons either, They want to see the land of their ancestors again,” he continues, “I believe that this emerging market could soon become as important as European markets because of the special history of coexistence between Muslims and Jews.”

According to a CRT spokesperson, “The stability of Morocco has helped make all Jews in the world feel safe, especially those of Moroccan descent, the weddings are held in the palaces and hotels, and it is known that young Israelis sometimes take vacation trips to Morocco.”

He adds, “The potential for arrivals from Israel is huge, and it could reach a million visitors in the next five years. But then we need to create more airlines, and better adapt to the needs of this market in the areas of cooking, religion and others.”
