The Ministry of Finance denies imposing taxes on traveler’s gifts

The Ministry of Economy and Finance has clarified that the news about tightening control measures on gifts and personal items belonging to Moroccan travellers residing abroad by the customs and indirect taxes administration, is not correct.

The Ministry affirmed that the customs procedures have not changed and that Moroccan travellers, including Moroccans residing abroad, are not concerned with customs control about anything regarding the personal items and gifts they carry with them.

Additionally, the Ministry explained that the indirect intervention of the Customs and Indirect taxes administration applies only to commercial goods.
Furthermore, the Ministry is working to simplify and facilitate the entry of Moroccans through the various border points to the homeland, in implementation of the royal instructions, According to the Ministry report.
