Morocco and Russia signed an agreement that will allow Russian boats to fish in the waters near the Canary Island.

The Kremlin will be able to exploit Moroccan waters with a fleet including 10 ships flying the Soviet flag, after paying more than seven million euros, as stated in the agreement.

Morocco allows Russia to fish in waters near the Canary Islands, unlike the financial embargo imposed by the United States and Europe on Moscow because of Ukraine’s invasion.

The two sides agreed that the Russian fleet would benefit from a fishing quota of up to 140,000 tons per year of small pelagic fish like sardines, mackerel and anchovies from approximately 15 miles from the coast.
