A delegation of Quebec music professionals is taking part for the first time in the Visa For Music Festival, to be held in Rabat from 16 to 19, November  2022. This participation aims to exchange with Moroccan professionals and to support bilateral cooperation between Quebec and Morocco.

This first major event will be marked by three key events related to professional program events, including November 18, the date of the organization of private meetings sessions between professionals from Morocco and Quebec, and an expanded reception to welcome the broadcasters present at the VFM festival, as well as participation in a panel on «language as a tool of musical expression» which is scheduled for November 19.

The Quebec delegation has about 30 participants, including producers, broadcasters, artists’ managers, directors of a professional association and a government corporation. Also, the 9th edition of the festival will welcome Québeco-Moroccan artist Ayrad and Quebec’s Odreii.

Louise Lantagne, President and CEO of SODEC, said in a statement: The enthusiasm and interest of Quebec music professionals and artists for Morocco is undeniable: for its first participation in Visa for Music, SODEC is proud to accompany, in collaboration with the Québec Office in Rabat, a cohort of over 30 people. The natural links between Morocco and Quebec are many: we share a francophone identity as well as strong cultural traditions and a great appreciation for them.

The Maghreb population is also one of the largest diaspora communities in Quebec, where it brings a rich culture. The Moroccan market is therefore particularly important for the development and outreach of local artists and businesses and it is a great opportunity to present them at Visa for Music, an event of international calibre and an exceptional gateway to Africa.”
