Automotive exports up 34.9% at end-September 2022

The Exports of the automotive sector amounted to 77.68 billion dirhams (MMDH) for the first nine months of this year, up 34.9% compared to end-September 2021, according to the Exchange Office.

These exports achieved their highest level over the same period in the last five years, says the Office, which has just published its recent monthly external trade indicators. This increase concerned sales in the construction segment (+56.2%) and those in the cabling segment (+20.8%), according to the same source, noting that, on the other hand, exports in the interior vehicles and seat segment remained almost stable.

Reminding that the Sales of phosphates and derivatives increased from 66.6% to over 91.8 MMDH, following the increase in exports of natural and chemical fertilizers (+28.523 MMDH) due to the price effect which more than doubled (8.749 DH/T at end-September 2022 against 4.330 DH/T at end-September 2021).

At the same time, agriculture and agri-food exports totalled more than 61.36 MMDH at the end of September 2022, up 20.8% from the same period in 2021. This was due to the simultaneous increase in sales of the food industry (+22.4%) and those of agriculture, forestry and hunting (+18.5%).

Exports of textiles and leather increased by 26.7%, due to the improvement in sales of garments (+28.8%), hosiery (+19.6%) and footwear (+29.9%).
