Colombian Senator German Blanco revealed in an interview with MAP that the majority of the Colombian people are against establishing relations with the Polisario Front.
Blanco said that the separatist group is recognized only by Algeria while the UN, Europe and Arab countries don’t recognize its existence.
The Colombian Senator added that they believe in the senate that Colombia should not intervene in Moroccan internal affairs, especially since the country deserves all the Colombians’ respect.
The Senator mentioned before, affirmed that his country had good relations with Morocco for 50 years, which was reflected in conventions and trade agreements between the two countries, and make Morocco a strategic partner for Colombia.
Moreover, German Blanco also said that the Colombian government’s decision does not reflect all Colombians’ positions, and warned that President Petro and his Minister of Foreign Affairs decision may be deteriorating the relationship with Morocco.
