The trial in the court of the first instance in Nador ended with a four-month prison sentence for 62 illegal immigrants, and two and three months suspension distributed to 12 other immigrants guilty of illegal entry to Morocco.

The Moroccan Association for Human Rights reported, through its Facebook account, that “the Court of First Instance in the city of Nador, during the past few days, issued a number of judgments regarding illegal migrants,” adding that “the court issued two months prison sentence to 4 illegal migrants, and 3 months prison sentence to 8 migrants, and 4 months to 62 migrants”.

These arrests came months after nearly two thousand migrants, mostly from sub-Saharan Africa and Sudan, attempted to cross over the fence to Melilla, on 24 June, when they were arrested by the Moroccan and Spanish authorities, During this accident, 23 of them died.
