The national beach soccer team was beaten this Wednesday by its Egyptian counterpart in the “semi-final” of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Mozambique.

The players of the national team have probably lacked freshness. After leading the way (2-0) in the first phase of the game, they conceded three goals in the second period.

In the third decisive phase, they climbed up the slope by tying and then taking advantage. But they conceded two goals on monumental mistakes by the defence and the goalie.

Sylla’s men had finished in Group A after beating Mozambique (3-1) and Malawi (7-3).

As a reminder, the Atlas Lions had never reached the CAN final before. They settled for a third place twice (in 2013 and 2021).

Egypt will face in the final the winner of the other semi-final, pitting Senegal and Mozambique against each other.
