Fes Sufi Festival: Michael Barry launches the 15th edition

Madrassa al bou anania is in a meeting with Micheal Barry who leads the inaugural conference on «The future of Islamic art», this Saturday, October 22nd.

The meeting will be followed, at 4 p.m., by the opening of the exhibition “Les manteaux des éveillés” by Louise Cara, who will examine the traditional Sufi transmission of the divine and prophetic influence through the mantle or “Khirqa”. which will be punctuated directly by the sitar concert «Listen to the flight…» of the Indian “Khwaja Ameer”.

This opening creation, is an immersion in the Indian Mughal court, where the virtuosos of Hindustani music from North India, Sufi Qawwali and Kathak dancers will gather to highlight the 17th-century Indian Sufi prince Dârâ Shikôh and his actions in favor of the fruitful coexistence of religions.

The second day of the festival, will be dedicated to the Master class, at the Sheherazade Palace at 3 pm, sung by Françoise Atlan on «Al matrouz, the illustrated embroidered canticles, religious songs Judeo-Arabo-Andalusian»

This 23rd of October is scheduled, also in the same space of the palace, in a round table, at 4 pm, on «Science and Consciousness» or scientists in search of meaning. A rich program for this first weekend of this fifteenth edition of the Festival which will continue until October 29.

In memory of Charif Moulay Abdellah Ouazzani, the festival continues its initiatory journey in the breath of the transmission of the cultural heritage of Sufism. Where Nearly 200 artists and spiritual singers from Morocco and brotherhoods of the world (India, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kosovo, Syria, France, Persia), who preserve the traditions of the music of Sufism while giving them a lively and inspired interpretation, are solicited to perpetuate this culture and share it with a wide audience.
