The Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, picked up “the Golden Ball”, at a ceremony organised on Monday night in Paris by the weekly France Football.

Benzema was rewarded, for the main role he played at Madrid where he won both the Champions League and La Liga, in addition of his winning of the Nations League trophy with France in October 2021.

Real Madrid captain Sadio Mané (Liverpool then Bayern Munich), winner of the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, and Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, England champion for the fifth time with Manchester City, are ahead of the standings in this 2022 edition.

The Merengue striker, has becomes the fifth French player in history to win the prestigious trophy after Kopa, Platini, Papin and Zinédine Zidane, the last tricolour footballer to play world football in 1998.
