Morocco’s permanent ambassador to The United Nations, Omar Hilale, renewed his concerns about Algeria’s hostile approach aimed at weakening Morocco’s territorial safety and sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara.

Omar Hilale made his notes before the members of the fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on October 14, where he recalled the “huge” international support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as a serious basis to end the dispute over Moroccan Sahara.

Hilale stressed, that “more than 90 UN member states have expressed their support toward this initiative, which is the only solution to this regional struggle”, and he added that the international support is “in line with the situation of the security council.

The Moroccan ambassador recalled that the opening of international representations shows the countries’ support for and recognition of Morocco’s territorial integrity and safety over Moroccan Sahara, especially after the opening of 27 consulates general in the southern provinces of Dakhla and Laayoune.

On the other hand, it is important to talk about his majesty’s speech the anniversary of the Revolution of King and People in August, where he expressed satisfaction with the opening of international representations in the regions mentioned before, and he thanked countries for their support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.

“I should like to say how much I value the position taken by our brothers in Africa, approximately 40% of African countries from five regional groups have opened consulates in Laayoune and Dakhla,” the King said in his speech.
