The South African presidency announced the upcoming visit of the leader of the “Polisario” Front, Ibrahim Ghali, to the capital, Pretoria, during the month of October, coinciding with the discussions of the UN Security Council on the Sahara.

The South African presidency, while disclosing about the President Cyril Ramaphosa’s program for the months of October, November and December, confirmed Ibrahim Ghali’s visit to South Africa without showing a specific date, in addition of another visit to the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, in the same month.

In the same matter, the visit to Pretoria by the leader of the “Polisario” Front, Brahim Ghali, comes in the context of the support it receives from South Africa, which insists the dispute about the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its sovereignty over the Sahara.

The arrival of the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, to South Africa, after Ibrahim Ghali’s visit, also suggests that the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, is trying to put pressure on the Spanish government to reverse its decision to support the Moroccan autonomy initiative, and to influence its position on the Sahara conflict at The UN Security Council, as a member of the “Friends of Western Sahara” group, at the UN Security Council, which is the main organizer of the file of Sahara.
