the UN General Assembly elected Morocco in New York, for its third time as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the period of 2023-2025.

In a participation of Morocco with Belgium, Germany, Algeria, Sudan, Bangladesh, Chile, Costa Rica, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Romania, South Africa and Viet Nam, will have to chose a focal point, or joining the group of friends of R2P (The Responsibility to Protect) in Geneva and New York, to be « Friends of the Responsibility to protect ».

Morocco has been elected with an overwhelming majority of 178 votes, In addition of its participation with the countries mentioned before, they will be responsible of protecting their populations, responds in a timely and effective way to an extremely violent or cruel situations, moreover support the HRC assigned investigative mechanism, and the adoption of resolutions adressing serious violations of human rights.

On the other hand, the HRC’s members should be leading in Protecting and promoting human rights, and holding a special session by mobilizing appropriate international diplomatic action, when a mas atrocity crime is detected.
