A group of approximately eight gunmen, clad in black attire, reportedly stormed the Ajadeh Event Centre in Iperu Remo along Sagamu Road, resulting in the tragic killing of Babcock University lecturer Yinka Olowojobi and the abduction of two other individuals.

According to a statement released by Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, the incident occurred on Friday, April 19th, at approximately 9:20 pm.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately in the event center’s lounge area, where Olowojobi and the other victims were relaxing. Olowojobi, who allegedly resisted the assailants, was fatally shot in the chest.

Among the abducted individuals were Dare, a manager of a car stand, and another unidentified person who was present during the attack.

The police investigation led to the arrest of Awada Ishaya, a recent employee from Plateau State who had been hired as a security guard at the event center just two weeks before the incident.

In a statement, Odutola confirmed: “The lecturer was taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits and rescue the kidnapped victims.”

The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice and secure the safe return of the abducted individuals.

As the investigation progresses, authorities remain committed to providing updates on the situation.
