Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have announced the neutralization of Peter Chukwu, a notorious gang leader believed to be responsible for the heinous murder of Ndidi Livingstone, the Community Development Committee Chairman of Mgboshimini in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The tragic incident unfolded as Livingstone exited a church, only to be ambushed by assailants who subsequently shot him in the head and stomach as he attempted to flee. The brazen attack witnessed the assailants dragging the late chairman from the place of worship in the presence of his wife and children before fatally shooting him.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, revealed this development during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, the state capital. Additionally, Disu disclosed that Peter Chukwu, also known as Daddy Chukwu, and his gang had previously launched a separate attack on the community, resulting in the deaths of 22 individuals on October 9th, 2017, before evading capture.

The operation to apprehend Chukwu was meticulously planned, with intelligence gathered by officers of the command leading to a joint operation involving Rivers State tactical teams, the Intelligence Response Team, and assistance from the Delta State Police Command. The operation culminated in the raid of Chukwu’s hideout in Ibusa, Delta State.

Chukwu was discovered seeking refuge in the residence of his herbalist, where he sought spiritual fortification. Despite putting up fierce resistance, Chukwu sustained fatal injuries in the ensuing confrontation while attempting to evade capture. Regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries before medical assistance could be administered.

The successful neutralization of Peter Chukwu marks a significant victory for law enforcement in Rivers State, underscoring their commitment to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes and maintaining peace and security within the community.
