The Ondo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, has launched efforts to apprehend a soldier accused of fatally stabbing a trader in Akure, the state capital. The tragic incident occurred at the bustling Arakale Market following a heated argument between the soldier and the victim.

According to reports, the identity of the soldier involved remains unknown as investigations continue. The altercation reportedly escalated to violence, resulting in the tragic death of the trader. The incident sparked a protest among the deceased’s colleagues at the market, although law enforcement swiftly intervened to restore order.

Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrator. She emphasized that the police are collaborating with military authorities to ensure that the responsible party is brought to justice.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the soldier allegedly sought a refund from the trader for what he deemed unsatisfactory service, leading to a dispute between them. It is reported that the soldier, accompanied by fellow servicemen, attempted to forcefully obtain reimbursement, escalating tensions and ultimately resulting in the fatal altercation.
